Introduction.
Offering Virtual Learning to my students implies the capability to know the combination of different virtual instruments to apply efficiently and effectively virtual teaching. The more a teacher uses the virtual instruments, the more ability and knowledge about them, the teacher can develop.
In this sense, It was offered to the students in the last session, several virtual instruments. The first one was Loti-framework. This instrument was designed to meassure the different levels of knowledge and implementation of technology and virtual instruments in the teaching process. It allows teachers to assess themselves by using the framework. The other virtual resources that were given in the session were: Slide-Share, Fotor and blogger. These resources can work together and benefit teaching process by giving the teachers the possibility to combine them and to produce virtual teaching instruments.

My EFL Teaching Practice and Loti-Framework, Slide-Share, Fotor and Blogger.
As I pointed out previously, Loti-Framework served to self-evaluate me as an EFL teacher. It is an instrument that made me reflect about the level that technology is present in my lessons and also made me discover about my own level of domain in the use, and knowledge of virtual instruments. This self-evaluation
was very important for me for two reasons. First, knowing that virtual learning comes hand in hand with virtual teaching, I discovered that my level was not enough to use effectively and efficiently nor technology neither virtual instruments. At the level I am, I am not able yet to offer to my students a proper virtual learning experience. Second, knowing my level according to Loti- framework, it made me possible to project at what level I want to be and the time I will dedicated from now on, to achieve that level. I am clear that to apply virtual teaching, it is necessary that teachers start experimenting
and growing in the ability of using all the virtual tools that can benefit
their students.
Under this perspective, the last session worked with three virtual instruments, that can be mixed and together to give the teacher the opportunity to
create interesting E-learning instruments for the students: Slideshare, Fotor and
Blogger. In the case of Slide-Share it is possible to upload presentations that
correctly embedded in blogger can serve to different learning goals. Also,
Fotor is a virtual instrument that can allow students to create their own images
according to the messages that they want to communicate. These possibilities
are powerful allies to promote Global Competence in the students, and achieve
the two main goals that as EFL teachers we have: to promote Communicative
Competence and Technological Competence.

Patricia, the ability and mastery of being proficient in certain field depends on the effort to learn and the how much we practice. As you mention, the more we are in touch with technology the more we learn about it. It depends on us how much time we devote to technology and how much we want to get into it. For the sake of our students we must get into technology to offer meaningful lessons that would be according to the way they learn in this era: through technological applications.
ReplyDeleteRoberto & Patricia, how much you want to master something, like technology in the classroom, implies self-training or "practice" as you mention. In the end, you are the ones who decide where you want to get with the use of technology for learning purposes.
DeletePatricia, a self-realization after our 3rd session is as important as the plan you can devise to become a techy teacher who can make use of a lot of tools to have students learn and help them become independent, too. I wish you had also talked about the use of HTLM codes in your post as it was required for this post. And be careful with the amount of mistakes in your writing. These mistakes don´t allow your ideas to shine properly.
ReplyDeleteAuch...
DeleteThanks a lot for your observations Professor. One of my problems is the spelling. I will be more careful in the future, because I know that all these posts will be seen by my students.
About HTML codes. Knowing how to work with them, enable me, as a teacher, to design and include different type of materials in a document as a post, to offer to my students interesting, colorful, meaningful and useful materials to practice and learn their English Language, and at the same time to train them in the use of E-learning tools.
As in the Ministry of Education we do not work with specific student books, or workbooks, the use of HTML codes becomes in an incredible instrument to design materials according to my students needs and according to the Syllabus contents.
I am clear about the importance of HTML codes and how useful they are for my professional growing. Now I can work with these codes designing materials and practices for my students.
Again, thanks for every observation about my posts.
Dear Patricia,
ReplyDeleteI agreed with you that practice makes perfect. It is possible to see the improvement if we dedicate time using and implementing virtual instruments in the learning process. Teachers need instructors to need to apply and grow knowledge on how to use the tools you mention and other ones to profit our learners. I firmly believe that at first take time but after mastery time will be significantly reduced. Additionally, teachers can promote as the government requesting development of competencies including technology competence.
